Last week there was much hilarity over Donald Trump’s comment that as far as foreign policy was concerned, “I’m speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain, and I’ve said a lot of things.”
I will have to admit, this is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone claim expertise because they’ve “said a lot of things.”
But everyone is NOT Donald J. Trump.
Having said that, even Donald Trump recognizes the value of having a team of advisors who are experts in areas you’re not.
As the Washington Examiner reports,Today, in a meeting with the Washington Post, Trump named a team of advisers chaired by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. The Republican front-runner for president provided five names.
“Walid Phares, who you probably know. Ph.D., adviser to the House of Representatives. He’s a counter-terrorism expert,” Trump told the newspaper. “Carter Page, Ph.D. George Papadopoulos. He’s an oil and energy consultant. Excellent guy. The honorable Joe Schmitz, [was] inspector general at the Department of Defense. Gen. Keith Kellogg. And I have quite a few more, but that’s a group of some of the people that we are dealing with.”
The Washington Examiner speculates Trump’s decision to unveil his team may have been prompted by pressure from the press and Ted Cruz, Trump’s top GOP rival.
Perhaps, but it would appear Trump makes decisions on his own time, when he’s good and ready. A showman he is; stupid he is not
